It’s the new year everybody! Are you excited? I know I am. Well, sorta.
As for me, I’m optimistic about this year. I have goals set that I want to accomplish over the year, three to be precise. Out of the three, only one counts as a New Years resolution as the other two are things that actually need to get done. There are a bunch of smaller goals, but these are the big ones:
- Work harder on my art to proceed further with my projects and increase my income.
- Learn Japanese and dip my toes into translating.
- Make more of an effort to reach out to other artists.
The first goal is obviously the most important. Obviously, being that a lack of income can lead to a lot of problems, raising my income this year and keeping the status quo for years to come is the key to solving a lot of the problems that I have. Alternating between commissions and personal projects I really believe I can reach this goal (don’t really have much of a choice otherwise).
Learning Japanese is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, but like most people trying to learn a language, it’s always been something put on the back burner, especially compared to the first goal. But at this point, learning Japanese will without a doubt help me in the long run. Expanding my audience on place like Pixiv, translating my works and offering to translate other artist’s works, and even just enjoying more of the stuff that comes out of Japan. It’s generally something that can overall benefit me, both in the entertainment and financial sense.
And finally, reaching out to more artists. Honestly, I’m not really sure how to do this. ^^;
Had some bad experiences in the past to the point that I generally don’t even know how to make friends with people, be it in real life or online. But the one thing that I can do that wouldn’t hurt would be to make more of an effort to have multi-streams with other artists that I like. Gotta get a premium picarto account at some point and just visit other people’s streams if they happen to be going the same time I am.
Like I said, there’s a lot of smaller goals I’d like to accomplish as well, but these three are the things that will occupy my mind the most. No matter what happens, I’m determined to make this year a good one!
