Hey there! Oxdarock here! I’d just recently finished the formatting for a new commission option! As the title says, I present to you: Character Reference Sheet Commissions!
There have been many times where I wish that I could find or be given a clear reference sheet whenever I’m drawing an original character or fan art. I figured that offering this option would be beneficial to everyone: to commissioners who want a clear reference to send to other artists, to other artists who also desire clear reference sheets, and to me because it would make my job so much easier.
The process of how I handle reference sheet commissions is largely similar to normal commissions, however it’s a lot more reliant upon image references and will most likely take longer to complete simply because there will be more back and forth with the commissioner than usual.
I want to repeat that image references are very vital when it comes to character sheet commissions. Since the purpose of this option is the make an organized reference of good quality, the quality of the references is irrelevant so long as they provide the necessary info that I require. And for character creation that’s based off other designs, descriptions can be as simple as “Something like this” or “Like this and this put together” etc.
Also, regarding the format of the “Outfit” option, it dawned on me that this format can also be used to show off form changes or as a pseudo transformation sequence (like a breast expansion sequence). That’s fine, however, the pose must remain the same, which can most likely result in extra charges depending on the amount of work needed to adjust the anatomy. Also, while this format can be used for a form change, I personally advice that the new form has it’s own character sheet if it’s drastic and has the purpose of being used as a reference.
As with regular commissions, reference sheets can have their shading levels upgraded and can be done via sections rather than the entire sheet (except in the case of sketch to clean line art, in which case everything must be upgraded). I included the option to have a sketch shading level so that commissioners can take the time to look over their character’s design and request changes at a later date. I charge $10 extra for character creation ($5 for outfit creation for the “Outfit” option) in order to cover any number of redesigns. If I go straight from sketching to clean line art the extra charge only applies once, however if I have to go back and change something (or if the commissioner purchases a sketch reference sheet and comes back for changes after the sheet has been finished), then the extra charge will apply again.
This option is fairly new so there may be a lot of kinks that need to be worked out, but it’s definitely something that I believe will be beneficial to me and others. For any questions, don’t hesitate to use the Contact page or send me an email.
That’s all for now!
