Hey there, Oxdarock here!
It’s almost New Years where I live at the time of writing this, so I thought I’d leave some thoughts reflecting on the year real quick. World-wise, this year sucked ass, lmao! Several very well-known people in the anime and gaming industry, most notably Akira Toriyama, passed away and studios like Roosterteeth ended up closing their doors. And that’s only the news I’m aware of.
On the brighter side of things, lot of cool releases as far as the games I play. I enjoyed the latest FF14 expansion, Dawntrail, for three days before dropping it completely, lol. Then there was the release of Wuthering Waves and Zenless Zone Zero, two gachas I’ve had fun with (one more than the other, but I digress). And recently, I was able to finally get health insurance, so that’s another anxiety I don’t have to worry about anymore.
As for my personal endeavors, honestly, I didn’t feel like I progressed too much in what I’ve wanted to do over the year. I spent the majority of the time stabilizing my financial situation, once at the start of the year to build up what I lost in my move in 2023, and then again after spending a little too much time gaming in the summer and essentially losing a month’s worth of drawing time. If anything, I feel like I’ve regressed as I’ve kind of given up doing long form comics and my Japanese language studies. I want to do both, but I simply don’t earn enough passively at the moment to do so. Mind you, I still want to pursue said goals, but I need to go about it more creatively and spend more hours gaming. Hopefully the release of Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t impact that too much, lmao!
Anyway, that’s generally how I feel about the past year. Let’s hope the next one is much better. Like, much, much better. Happy New Year, everyone!!!
That’s all for 2024!
