A Look at 2018 and Plans for the New Year

Hey there, Oxdarock here!

With 2018 slowly coming to a close, I wanted to take a moment to look back over 2018, as well as announce future plans and changes, specifically to Patreon. Me being me, I’ve included two versions.

The short version

I’ve accomplished quite a lot this year! Managed to put out three more Snapzine issues and gained a lot more support on Patreon. Thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting me and enjoying my works thus far! There’s still plenty of things that I want to make, so look forward to it!

Regarding Patreon, I’ll be making some changes to the tier rewards, particularly character/picture suggestions and stack points. In short, suggestions and requests will be purely point based, a flat amount of points will be given to each tier, only “Grand” tier and above will earn points, there will be a cap to the number of points one can earn, and the amount of points needed to do stuff will increase by a lot. I’ll list the changes in detail in another post, however they won’t go into effect until February 2019. I’ll also change how I deal with the Exclusive archive slightly. Since it’s a simple change and will allow patrons to see even more content, I’ll apply it at the start of next month.

There’s no way for me to make everyone happy, but I’ll do my best. Let’s have another great year everbody! That’s all for now!

The very long version

I’ve accomplished a lot this year. The growth of my Patreon and release of three more Snapzine issues has improved my financial situation quite a bit (though it’s still fairly lacking by most standards). Even managed to move into another apartment with a roommate. Much more independent from my folks that I’ve ever been. Really hope nothing catastrophic happens in the future though.

Anyway, I really do appreciate everyone who’s supported me in various ways, whether it’s supporting me on Patreon, buying stuff from my store, and even hanging out during my Picarto streams. Saying that there’s a lot that I want to draw is an understatement. Mostly, I want to indulge myself in making more hardcore porn beyond simply nudity. And on the real life side of things not involving money, there’s a certain language that I legit need to learn that I’m having trouble with (I’m sure a lot of you can guess which one).

Regarding Patreon changes, after looking it over how I run things, I realize that the way I have suggestions and requests set up can potentially overwhelm me with extra work really quickly. Even though a small percentage of my patrons actually take part in the point system and suggestions, I find myself falling behind as is when trying to balance everything out, especially comics. I haven’t really received any complaints on the matter thus far, but just the thought of it happening has me really nervous.

Still, either because of guilt, a sense of duty, or some other reason, I really do want to show the people who go above and beyond to support me that I truly appreciate it. I just don’t have nearly enough time to do so, at least in the form of personalized work without it becoming less of a gesture of good will and more of an unhealthy distraction. I really have no choice but to embrace the fact I can’t make everybody happy. However, at the very least, no matter how simple, I want to try and draw at least one thing for the people who help me out so much. That notion is still destined to fail at some point, but it’s better than doing nothing.

Anyway, in order to not become overwhelmed with extra work too quickly, while each tier will earn a set amount of points each month, the amount you’ll need to use them will be much higher (though the $1 tier will be excluded). I also plan to cap the amount of points a patron can earn as well. Furthermore, while those who limit their pledges per month will still earn points, it’ll happen at a slower rate.

On another note, while character suggestions (despite needing more points to make one) will work the same, I’ll be offering line and color works as outright requests. If possible, I’d like to make these requests relate to the Lusty Lamp as much as possible (which isn’t hard so long as the details are simple enough and offer me plenty of freedom), but if it ends up being more trouble than it’s worth, I’ll just make them standalone pin-ups that I’ll post publicly. I won’t apply any of these changes until February 2019, so patrons can still take advantage of the current rewards until then. I will also be keeping the current list of suggestions and working with them as well.

All in all, I want to solidify these rewards as long term side perks. Patrons are mostly pledging to see my works early and to support me so that I can continue to focus on creating more content. These personalized perks are really just an added bonus.

As for changes to the archives, simply put, anything I make for patrons, whether it’s for illustrations or comic, will go into an archive. “Huge” tier ($3) will gain access to an archive of anything that’s not a comic and “Giant” tier ($5) will gain access to everything. Since it’s simple and give patrons more content, I’m going to apply it immediately.

There! I said it! I spilled my guts to everybody! Now I feel much better. I’ll be sure to organize everything over the course of January. Let’s have a great year everybody! That’s all for now!
